Experience Let's See What We Have Here

Here is a brief description of Russell's Racing and fabricating experience. We feel that for you to get the best product the people serving you should have Racing Experience. All Racetech employees have a diverse past with Racing and fabricating. Russell has been in a few catastrophic wrecks where the cars did not survive but Russell has walked away with minimal injuries or none at all. Every project is well thought out prior before any fab work begins from Rule updates and Class requirements and is fabricated with the highest standards possible. Racetech has had many Customers that have wrecked hard or rolled the cars and have walked away without any significant injuries.

Russell N.'s History:

Russell started racing Mini Stocks right out of High School. First car was a Mazda RX2 with a 12A built by Dick Hagg out of Portland Or. Russell's Father raced Stock Cars throughout his  life starting in Medford Or 1966-68.

Family moved to Washington in the late 60's and Richard ran his stock cars throughout Washington and Oregon State. Richard Raced against the likes of Herald Hardasty, Hershall McGriff Sr., Carl and Dan Joiner.

Russell grew up helping his dad building and maintaining his dad's cars and had learned the number one rule from his dad. Never work on the race car at the track, be prepared and be ready to race when you leave the house. That philosophy has earned Richard countless wins and a few track championships throughout the NW.

Russell's first car, the RX2 (1979) was destroyed in a wreck (1980) at Portland Speedway. Russell then joined the Army and during his stint (13 years total service) as a  Infantry Officer Russell and his Dad found a Mazda R100 had they converted that to a mini stock and competed around Oregon and Washington for a couple of Seasons. That car competed on Dirt as well as asphalt. That car was destroyed when Russell was competing at Lebanon Speedway with the Open Comp Div. and was stuffed into the front wall and rolled and flipped over 3 times into the air. Russell found another R100 and built that car and raced it at Eugene Or. and Spanaway Wa. in the Pro 4 series the 89-91.

Prior to that Russell was an over the wall crew member on a Winston West Stock Car Team that travelled around the west coast for Rose Auto Wrecking for Driver Jimmy Bown. Russell worked for Dick Bown and performed maintenance duties as well being the jack man and fuel man for 2 seasons.

During the early 90's Russell took a job maintaining 3 NASCAR Late Model Series Stock Cars for a owner/driver  in Portland. That offered an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of suspension set up and maintenance and fabrication of tube frames chassis. Russell also competed in the series for 2 seasons gaining valuable driving experience  in a very competitive series racing against Dan and Mike O'brist, Greg Biffle and Hershal McGriff Jr.

After that Russell got a job at Hershal Jr's fab shop and worked along side him building and maintaining Stock Cars for a year and a half.

Russell worked out of his home shop for a couple of years building stock cars and drag race cars. Then Russell got an opportunity to work for Chuck Shafer on his Highway 318 Silver State Challenge Car that holds the record still to this date. Russell was one of 2 guys (Kevin K.) fabricating and maintaining  the chassis for the race car. Kevin and Russell were responsible for the day to day fabrication, assembly and testing of the LeBaron and have countless hours doing so.

Russell got a chance to compete in  Oregon Region SCCA and ICSSC Road Racing for 2 seasons in a Mazda RX7. That opened a door for Russell Crewing on a Grand AM Cup BMW M3 for nearly 3 seasons and he became the Crew Chief and maintained the car for year and a half. Russell also got the chance to race the car in local Endurance Races in Oregon and California plus compete Professionally in Grand AM Cup all over the Country gaining much knowledge and driving experience.

Racetech was started for one purpose, that was to serve the local racer and provide the utmost safety and well built cars for a decent price. Every car is built with that in mind and each is improved on. We are not comfortable building the same old types of cages or kits like other shops do. We also feel the customer gets a better project since we do have so much experience and driving knowledge. Any welder can weld a car together, a Racer/fabricator can build a safe and well handling race car. All cages are the tightest fit possible and are all tied into a common junction for the best possible strength. We are constantly improving each project for you, the customer.
